Its a little bit poetry, a little bit funny, a bit myth, a bit pathos and just a little bit pointed. Hi Gloria. I just sent this message to Maeve Smith - I live in Wellington and decided to get a meeting going in Thames because we (fluoride action network NZ) have meetings organised for Whakatane, Havelock North and New Plymouth later this month. The reason I've thought of Thames is that there is a newly elected councillor, Tony Brljevich, who is committed to getting fluoridation stopped in Thames. He plans to do this through the Council's LTTP process early next year. Therefore, we need people in Thames to be aware of what's happening and to voice their opinion. I have just sent 10 A4 colour posters to the Organic Co-op and about 30 flyers with an insert with the film evening/public meeting details as an insert. Please let me know if you would be willing to deliver flyers (i can send them up) or if you have any other ideas about advertising the upcoming event. thanks, Mary. p.s. Gloria - the council's job is to provide people with clean water not dental medications and the fact that they must have added so much chlorine that you can smell it shows they are not doing a very good of providing the basic human right of clean water.

Arts on Tour New Zealand present:Haggis Sandwich – Gourmet offering from Andrew London and Steve McDonald  Kiwis love Andrew London and the lyrics he dreams up as a performer with Hot Club Sandwich. And given the number of Kiwis who claim Scottish descent, it is not surprising that Steve McDonald’s Celtic inspired music inspires floods of patriotic nostalgia. Now the two team up in Haggis Sandwich, a wide-angled and often irreverent approach to Kiwi culture – where some of it came from…See More

Peak Oil again in news - Nature magazine article. follow link: Co-author David King is former science advisor to UK government.

The idea of ‘peak oil’ — that global production will reach a peak and then decline — has been around for decades.  The true volume of proven global reserves is clouded by secrecy; forecasts by state oil companies are not audited and seem to be exaggerated. The notion that oil is produced by the earth - abiogenic oil - is largely discredited.

BEWARE THE TRANS-PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT!

Should we be concerned about the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA)? Click link for news.

If these secret negotiations succeed [the only documents in the public domain have been leaked] they will create a mega-treaty across nine or more countries that puts a straightjacket on the policies and laws our government can adopt for the next century and give massive new powers to corporations.

Thames residents may be sitting on a gold mine

There is an application to prospect for gold underneath the town pending approval.

The application by Zedex Gold [application 53981 - purple on map] was lodged with the Ministry of Economic Development on October 4th 2011.
